WICHITA FALLS — Midwestern State announced the addition of Pratt Community College transfer, Jordan Mathis, on Monday. The guard rounds out the 2021 signing class for Women’s Basketball.

“Jordan is extremely athletic and will add great versatility to our lineup,” said MSU coach Christopher Reay. “She has a knack for tracking down loose rebounds but also can score very well attacking the rim.”

The 5’10 incoming junior averaged 10.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2019-20 at the Kansas junior college. Mathis tallied 5.7 boards and 9.6 points average in the past 2020-21 season. She was also named to the All-KJCCC Honorable Mention team in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

“Her defensive prowess will help lift our squad to where we want to be in the Lone Star Conference,” Reay said. “She has a great family and we welcome her to our squad with open arms.”

The Rockwall, Texas native averaged nine points and five rebounds in her career at Rockwall High School. She was two-time Defensive MV and All-Region team selection while also named District MVP in 2018-2019. In addition, Mathis gained Academic All-District in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Mathis’ uncle, Marcus Mathis, was also part of the MSU Mustang family. While playing football at Midwestern State, he rushed for 2,433 yards and gained 17 touchdowns from 39 games. From 2007-2010, Mathis saw time in 39 games with 25 starts, helping the team to the NCAA playoffs in 2009 and the Kanza Bowl in 2010.

Jordan Mathis plans to major in Biology and joins Yasmine Sifaoui in the signing class.
